About Justin

Justin sitting next to the creek.
Hey there. Thanks for stopping by. As you already know I am a fairly new transport to Hickory, North Carolina. I moved from my home near Bakersfield, California. I became a Southerner by following my fiancee Amber (Just Another Home Chef) to her hometown in western North Carolina.

I love nautical history and am a nutter for all things pirate! I’m a PLSI geek and love American history. I have fallen in love with NASCAR (who would have thought that could have happened?) And am loving life here in the south. I’ve taken gourmet cooking classes, am a member of the California BBQ Association and have cooked in BBQ competitions. I can’t wait to return to competition cooking, especially here in North Carolina (a whole new culinary world.) I’m into fossils and rocks/minerals. I inherited a friends library of books dedicated to paleontology/geology/biology and am working through it. I’m also a PADI certified SCUBA diver and am very interested in exploring the waters of the North Carolina coast. Integrating this hobby with my interest in nautical history should be a blast! I’m also a magic enthusiast and am working my way through the Tarbell Course and Card College. I am a member of the Society of American Magicians (SAM.) What else should you know about me? I am an avid NPR listener. I adore books. Lost, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and Good Eats are my favorite shows. Anything else, just ask me.

I decided to put up this page after noticing a very large number of searches for my name coming up. Soooo… Who are you people? I am very interested to find out who out there is looking for me. So please leave me a note here saying that you stopped in and what you think of the blog.
